Altenberg Trio Archive (ATA)
The Altenberg Trio Archive (ATA) represents the first stage of what
eventually should become a comprehensive on-line encyclopedia of the
Piano Trio. With the help of all interested users we would like to
collect all available information on the history and literature of the
Piano Trio in its classical form (piano, violin, ‘cello).
At this initial stage we offer limited access to two of the seven databases of our archive:
The Altenberg Trio Archive
Opus Database (ATA/O) – Index of Works
>>> Opus Database
A list of works for piano or harpsichord, violin, and cello. This list includes original works and arrangements for piano trio, both published and unpublished. Works for violin, cello and basso continuo are not included. Additionally this list comprises a limited number of quartets for piano trio plus one more instrument or voice, as well as triple concertos for piano trio and orchestra.
This list will give you the following basic information:
composer’s name
years of composer’s birth and death
title of the work
opus or catalogue number
year of publication
publisher’s name
place of publication
Additional information about many of the works ( e. g. place and date of composition, dedication, movements, date and performers of premiere, place of conservation of rare prints and manuscripts etc.) may be obtained upon request via e-mail from Claus-Christian Schuster.
All corrections of and additions to this list are welcome.
Please use the form for Opus Database (ATA/O). .
The Altenberg Trio Archive
Ensemble Database (ATA/E) – Index of Performing Piano Trios
>>> Ensemble Database
This is an attempt to list performing piano trios of the past and present. We hope that through your help it will eventually grow into a comprehensive and reliable list of performing piano trios.
This list will give you the following basic information:
name of the group (or last names of their members: pianist / violinist / cellist)
years of activity
place of residence
pianist: full name, date and place of birth, date and place of death
violinist: full name, date and place of birth, date and place of death
cellist: full name, date and place of birth, date and place of death
Since to our knowledge this is the first attempt to compile such a list, it is inevitably incomplete. We therefore ask you kindly to forward any addition or correction you may have to the Altenberg Trio.
Please use the form for Ensemble Database (ATA/E) .
Thank you for your cooperation.
